Results from the Laurel-Christian Tournament
Kevin Hussey
Junior - 1st Year
Individual All-Around Winner
1st Place - Prose Interpretation
1st Place - Extemporaneous Speaking
3rd Place - Novice Interpretation
This tournament marked several firsts. It was the first tournament for a majority of
competitors, it was the first time Mr. Cole had to leave in the middle of a tournament
and could not be at awards, and it was also the first time that an Oak Grove novice
competitor won two events at a novice tournament. Kevin demonstrated the diversity
of his talent by winning two very different events, prose and extemp. He also placed
3rd In Novice Interp and was named the Individual All-Around Winner (he tied with
Petal's Madison Kolbo). Hopefully, this is only the beginning for Mr. Hussey. This is
his second MVP win.

On a very personal note, I would like to personally thank Mrs. Boyd, Laurel Christian School,
their debate team and parents for taking care of my kids when I had to leave early because of the
death of my grandmother. It is a true sign of sportsmanship and the family atmosphere that we
have here in Mississippi when people put competition aside and take care of each other in a time
of need. I am so appreciative of everything you did, and hope you know how much it meant to
me. Thank you -- Mr. Cole
