Mississippi Youth Congress
Each Year, Oak Grove High School is proud to compete in the annual Mississippi Youth Congress Competition.
This year's festivities will be held in the Thad Cochran Center on the campus of The University of Southern
Mississippi. After placing in the top 6 delegations for the past three years, the delegation from OGHS looks
forward to another round of parliamentary debate with their friends from across the state.

44 out of a possible 48 NFL points
In her third year at Mississippi Youth Congress, Kristen has seen the team drop from
1st to 3rd to 6th. Now she has been instrumental in getting the delegation back to the
way it was her freshmen year. Gaining nearly every point that is possible at youth
congress, earning three superior ratings, and having her resolution passed by both the
House and Senate is a lot, but it still didn't separate her enough from the rest of the
delegation to be MVP. The reason she was chosen is that she was instrumental in the
two things we needed in order to win: she networked with other schools to keep us in
good favor, and she spent the extra time needed working with novice delegation
members in their preparation for Congress. Our win is a testament to the fact that all
12 members gave speeches and stayed active. Kristen stepped up and did what she
wasn't asked to do. That is the mark of a true MVP!
CONGRATULATIONS KRISTEN!!!
